Basics
Name: Irri
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Human. A Dothraki of Drogo's Khalasar
Fandom: Game of Thrones/ASoIaF
Appearance
PB: Amrita Acharia
Description: Irri is a slip of a female who has the long dark hair, almond dark-eyes, and copper-brown skin of her people. Her black hair is almost always braided back, though at times it's twisted back; and it is often kept out of her face. Well, except for a few tendrils at the front but those don't often get in the way. She dresses as is customary for her people - in hemp and leather. The colors are earth-tones. The most noticeable trait of Irri is her face. Not it's prettyness, and she is pretty, but the expression that it takes. It is one of someone 'sizing you up'likely before she cuts you should she deem you a threat to her khaleesi. Her fine brows are slightly arched over judgmental dark eyes her full lips are set and slightly pinched in disfavor. It's a sour expression that does not belie the young girl who smiles readily and easily in the presence of those she cares for.
Skills Irri was a former slave turned handmaiden. She knows what is necessary for proper handmaiden to know: do hair, fold clothing and bedding, dress and bathe her mistress (in this case her khaleesi). She knows how to tend wounds, cook, and clean as well.
Powers: N/A
Abilities: A smart mouth that sasses verily sassily?
Other Skills: Because she is a Dothraki she knows how to ride a horse expertly. She also knows how to speak Westerosi and serves as a translator for her khaleesi. Irri, along with Jhiqui, teaches Dany how to speak the Dothraki language and all about the customs and culture of the horse warriors.
Personality
General personality: Irri is focusedly and fiercely protective of Dany and the ways of the Dothraki. She teaches the young kahleesi all the ways to fit in; tending to find Dothraki ways superior (and having no problem stating so). A lot of Irri's world is Dany: taking care of, watching over, pleasing Dany. As such she is developing a deep bond for the woman. One can see a lot of Irri's softness in how she treats Dany and, also, how she is with her fellow handmaids.
Irri serves Dany because the Khal ordered her to and she is respectful of a powerful Khal as well as her people's customs (even though Drogo's khalasar isn't the one she was born into). Yet it is Dany's kindness and growing force that has Irri's loyalty and shows a more focused example of Irri's near boundless loyalty. Irri values power and she sees a strong independence blooming in her kahleesi - in the way Dany readily adapts from a quiet, introverted, girl to a khaleesi worthy of Khal Drogo. However, all the time spent with Dany also allows her to see the strength on a deeper level - enabling a growing love and a loyalty for the young Targaryen. There is likely nothing that Irri wouldn't do for her khaleesi - to protect or please her. The stopping point is anything that would displease or go against the Khal.
Despite her prickly expressions, and even sharper comments, Irri's heart is open. Or it is capable of doing so. Her relationship with Doreah shows that. She cares for the other woman but often dismisses her voiced thoughts and ways as silly. Nevertheless, that doesn't stop Irri from being wholly willing to take care of Doreah when she is harmed.
Irri does have bite. It's not frosted - the looks she gives are more harsh than cold. No, she is a sassy sassmaster when she wants to be. Her temper snaps and cracks more than it explodes (though it can - after a little bit of warning - when pushed); it is kept back behind clenched teeth, sharp comments, and pursed lips. She isn't likely to take crap from anyone. She has no fear in telling off or telling a skilled warrior, or even Jorah, what to do. If she refrains (just barely) it's usually because that person matters to someone she cares for. Viserys - although she has no clue why her khaleesi won't allow Rakharo to slit his throat - seems to hold Dany's affection and because of this Irri tolerates him. She respects Dany's wishes. Although, in truth, she is smart enough to avoid him.
History
Although Dothraki by birth, Irri was a slave in Drogo's khalasar because his defeated the one she was born into. However, things began to change when Drogo was given, then married, Daenerys Targaryen. She in turn was given to Dany, not very long after the slightly younger girl's arrival, to serve as a handmaid. She, along with Jhiqui and Doreah, are responsible for taking care of Dany's every needs. What's more, the Dothraki women were meant to ensure that Dany learned how to properly ride (as to not dishonor the Khal and embarrass the khalasar) and are to ensure that she learns about the culture as quickly as possible, along the way.
Throughout Dany's time as the khaleesi, Irri grew to respect and care for her mistress. She noticed the oddities of Dany but never commented about them - or told others. She serves a go between Dany and Rakharo, Dany's Dothraki protector (and an infuriating, but talented rider, who Irri likes). Irri was the one who noticed that Dany was pregnant and took stride (as much as she could in the limited lands) to ensure that all would be well for her khaleesi. To ensure that Dany would get what she wanted. She is excited, like the rest of the call, for the future birth of Rhaego. Irri views it as her mission - her duty - to ensure the safety of mother and child.
What they have on arrival
A small dagger, the clothes on her back, and a bowl of goat stew.
Sample
Rakharo told her to eat but Irri didn't want to eat. Every time she set her bowl down, she would turn around and find him right behind her bowl in hand. He would grab her hands, cup them, and plop the bowl down with some pressure. As if the harder he placed it down the more likely she would eat what was inside. He would then leave angrily telling her that he was not her mother but a warrior (and it was not his duty to look after her). Like she had asked him to do so. She, if he had bothered to ask her - not that stopped her from telling him, found his actions more irritating than helpful (but maybe a little bit sweet) and she was only one step away from dumping the bowl on his head.
Irri sincerely hoped that the promise to geld him would keep him from dodging her steps (especially since he was too fine of a specimen to geld, even if she would never tell him that).
